Bumpdate: Week 17!
August 12th ~ August 18th
How far along? Today (8/19/13) is 18 weeks!
Size of the little darling? At 17 weeks, baby is the size of an onion -- about 5.1 inches and weighing in at around 5.9 ounces
Maternity Clothes? Ashley and I went on a day trip to Bangor on Friday, and I picked up a few more items that should get me through the next couple months. Many of the items I bought were actually non-maternity clothes that I hope to use to change up my basic maternity pants and solid-colored shirts (like scarves, cardigans, and sweaters).
Stretch Marks? Nothing yet - my belly is getting more and more itchy, though. I have been routinely using lots of regular lotion after showering and then slathering on the belly butter at night before bed.
Gender? We should know (if baby cooperates) a week from tomorrow! Anatomy ultrasound scheduled for Tuesday, August 27th.
Movement? Still nothing that I'm sure of....sometimes I think I might feel something in there, but I can't be sure it's not just gas bubbles!
Sleep? Eh...sleep is not going terribly, but I wouldn't say I'm getting a really restful night's sleep, either. I wake up often and it takes awhile to get into a comfortable position again.
Exercise? Tuesday - The Firm workout; Friday - spent the day walking all around Bangor while shopping, which I definitely count as some form of exercise! (too bad I also ate a delicious lunch at Five Guys which surely negates any of the walking benefits); Saturday - went for a walk with George
Not great, but it's better than no exercise at all!
Food Cravings? Still nothing! My eating patterns are totally back to normal, except that I usually have to eat a mid-afternoon snack to keep my hunger at bay.
What I Miss? Not missing anything this week! I'm feeling healthy and blessed with this pregnancy.
Symptoms? Not much to report this week. The headaches are gone (yay!!) and round ligament pains have subsided a bit. I'm still experiencing acne, but at this week's appointment my doctor gave me the go-ahead to start using topical acne products again (such as Clean and Clear); I'm hopeful that this might help improve my skin a little bit.
Weight Gain? Official numbers at my doctor appointment say I'm up 5 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. My doctor was pleased with my weight gain (since I didn't gain anything during my first trimester), and I'm at the low end of the recommended weight gain for this point in my pregnancy. Even so, watching the numbers on the scale go UP is definitely hard - even though I know it's necessary to grow a healthy baby.
Best Moment of the Week? On Saturday, George took me and baby Knox out for a date - a delicious dinner at Sorpresso's followed by browsing the baby aisles at local stores. I love planning for our baby's arrival together!
